1. Decide your budget. It's important to review your finances ahead of time and understand what your limitation is. What you want to spend should be outlined so you know don't go over your budget. The best thing to do is get some free estimates from local remodeling companies based on the design you want. Just researching average kitchen costs will not give you a specific guideline for what you are looking for, it will however give you an average.
2. Always have an "unexpected" fund. Many times we have seen some unforeseen circumstance arise that was not expected. A leak behind the cabinet wall which no one knew until the demo occurred. You should always account in your budget range for an unexpected cost (just in case).
3. Make a list of your "must haves." This way when you get estimates and it's beyond your budget, you know what you definitely want to keep and what isn't a need but a want. Decide what will help you function better in the kitchen and what is aesthetic value. Outlining these needs and wants will help you through the decision process much faster!
