First consider the weather: If you're going to do a remodel, in the middle of summer and you're in a state like ours (Florida) you'll probably have to have the AC on at all times which will lead to an increase in your electric bill. Now, we aren't telling you this to scare you off from doing the project, however unlike many other companies, we like to really PREPARE you for what to expect! We want you to be well equipped financially to cover all the little costs that add up when doing a project that most people don't think about.
Two, understand timelines and schedules. If you want to schedule a project to meet a deadline, do it waaay ahead of time. We have many people come to us at the end of the year wanting a new kitchen for Thanksgiving or Christmas and then get into a panic about the project because they chose to schedule it at the very last minute. Getting a new kitchen or bath takes time, especially if you don't know what you want because the decision making and choices can prevent you from starting faster.
Three, identify storage space. Most people choose the garage when it comes to placing new materials like cabinets or appliances that need a place to stay until ready to install.
That's my first three. Stay tuned as I will be outlining more tips for you on how to survive a remodeling process!
Til next time,
