Below are a few key things that are trending in what many consider to be luxurious kitchens:
It used to be that luxury kitchens would be these elaborate, overwrought and ornate things but not anymore. Nowadays it's more of a refined look with the kitchens having more of a sophisticated and overall livability to them. As a whole, more and more kitchens (regardless if they're luxurious or not) are incorporating organic materials that guarantee they last long such as wood and concrete, especially for flooring. Black kitchens (see above) are also becoming popular everywhere now that appliance companies are offering black appliances. But overall, kitchens are starting to stray away from the stainless steel look as well as go for not-so-common appliances like steam ovens, double dishwashers, etc.
Smarter storage is a huge priority for clients as well as an overall seamless look and different hardware finishes. Lighting is another item that's trending; lots of kitchens are using both modern and vintage sets as a way to make a difference in the overall look. If a kitchen has a modern look/feel to it, designers like to use vintage lighting and if a kitchen has a more "old timey" feel then designers go for modern lighting set. As far as what's trending in the layouts of kitchens, it's a debate. While some claim that putting barriers are what's trending, others claim that incorporating the living space nearby is still popular. According to our clients, many of our jobs are combining living space and kitchens to allow for entertainment as well as cooking.
But at the end of the day, regardless what trends are considered to be luxurious it's really up to what the customer wants and that's what matters. Let us know what YOU want in the comments below!
