Recessed Medicine Cabinet
So one of the most popular types of medicine cabinets is called a recessed medicine cabinet. It is most popular because of it's aesthetically pleasing look to the eye. The main portion of the storage is in the wall so the medicine cabinet itself does not stick out far. Most of the time the front of a recessed medicine cabinet is going to be a mirror, which is an essential feature in a bathroom anyways. It is almost like a hidden cupboard where you can keep extra soaps, medicine, or perfume.
The only con when it comes to a recessed medicine cabinet is that is can be slightly labor intensive, meaning you might have to hire someone to actually install it. However, if you do hire a carpenter it should not be too costly and you will love the extra storage.
Wall-Mounted Medicine Cabinet
The other kind of medicine cabinet you could opt for is called a wall-mounted medicine cabinet, which as you can imagine is going to stick out from the wall about four inches. It does not go into the wall at all, so the pro of that is you might be able to install it yourself because it hangs on a mounting device. This seems the faster of the two to get done.
The con that may come along with this is the way that it looks, you may not like something sticking four or five inches out of your wall. It may seem like it gets in the way of the sink. It might not hang sturdy enough.
So there you have it, two different styles of medicine cabinets. Medicine cabinets are very beneficial especially if you want a place to store medicine or daily things you use everyday that you do not want on the counter.
