Here's some tips to stay conscience of:
- Hot water in the garbage disposal: Instead of hot water use cold water. Hot water melts fat and grease which eventually leads to clogged drains and mechanical damages.
- Overfilling the freezer: It can cause the air vents to get blocked and overtax the condenser leading to a burnout.
- Not cleaning spills in the oven: It's normal for spills to happen, what's not normal is when the oven isn't baking things as it normally should. Not cleaning spills in the oven affects the heating coils thus not heating/baking foods properly.
- Sharp objects in the dishwasher: If you're placing knives in the dishwasher make sure to have the sharp end point up in the cutlery basket. By not doing this the knives create dinging marks on the racks which removes the coating causing it to rust. And that rust stains the dishware and the only way to solve this is by replacing the dishwasher.
