Origin: The Craftsman Style is an American extension of Britain’s arts and crafts movement. This style came about around the 1900’s – and in today’s society more and more people are trying to get that historic vibe in their house without actually buying an older home.
Design Features: The design features of the Craftsman Style include straight lines and simple designs. Cabinets tend to be usually oak - not painted or glazed, the idea is to actually retain the beauty of the wood itself. Iron or brass hardware is also a must. Sometimes an island can be included with a different color then the other cabinets, if you do want that extra pop of color.
Craftsman style homes really take pride in the products they use, spending the extra money on quality cabinets and fixtures is really worth it if you are going for this type of design.
I am really digging this style lately, what do you think about it? Let me know in the comments below!
