Q:
How much will my kitchen cost?
A:
Cabinets vary dramatically in price just like cars or houses. Entry-level cabinets are less expensive than cabinets with special finishes and upgraded storage features. Stevens Kitchens provides cabinetry that fits almost any budget...from basic to bold.
Q:
How long will it take to get the cabinets I order?
A:
Order time varies depending on the manufacturer and the complexity of the job. The minimum time is roughly three weeks and can be as much as eight weeks during peak times of the year.
Q:
Can you design my kitchen from a sketch of the room that I provide?
A:
We can certainly start with a sketch you provide. Doing your homework can shorten the time needed to design the final layout. However, we will always do our own measurements to verify that the design will actually work.
Q:
What is the best type of countertop for the kitchen? For bathrooms? For the laundry room?
A:
There are many possible countertop choices. As with cabinets, your budget needs to be matched with your desire for flexibility of design and product longevity. Laminate, solid surface, quartz-enhanced and granite are all good choices. Look at the pros and cons of each here: http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/home-garden/home-improvement/countertops/countertop-buying-advice/countertop-types/countertop-types.htm.
Q:
Can you match my existing cabinets or furniture?
A:
All woods and stains change color over time...some more so than others. In many cases, Stevens Kitchens can find cabinetry that may be compatible with your existing cabinets or furniture. In no case can we guarantee an exact match.
Q:
What construction features should I look for when choosing cabinets?
A:
Certain construction features are a sign of quality cabinets. A savvy consumer will look for things such as finished backs in all cabinets, drawer guides that also support the drawer bottom, conversion varnish (not lacquer) finishes, multi-way adjustable hinges, adjustable shelves, and a wide range of heights and depths. Newer convenience features include: soft-close hinges and drawers, multi-function drawer systems, and optional task lighting.
Q:
What are the most popular types of cabinets?
A:
Besides maple and cherry, certain wood species tend to be favored by today's consumers. Maple is frequently used in remodeling because of its clean look and its ability to blend in with most existing finishes. Cherry has become increasingly popular as manufacturers have developed a variety of finishes allowing it to work in more applications.
Q:
What's the difference between manufactured cabinets and custom-made cabinets?
A:
Years ago there was a significant difference in the sizes and finishes available from cabinetmakers and the manufacturers. Today, many cabinet manufacturers offer semi-custom sizing and finishes that rival, and may even exceed, the possibilities of a local custom cabinet shop.
Q:
Do you charge a design fee, measure fee or other fees in addition to the contract price for cabinets and installation?
A:
Stevens Kitchens does not charge a measure fee or a design fee for a first design or estimate. In some cases, where multiple design revisions are requested, a design fee will apply. If ONLY a design is needed, then of course there will be a fee for that. But if you are signing a contract for a full job then the design fee is included in the free estimate.
Q:
How much does a kitchen designer cost?
A:
Hiring a professional designer can cost anywhere between 5-10% of the finished project cost. For larger jobs, expect to pay more towards the 10% side but for smaller jobs, it can be less. Sometimes designers charge by the hour. In that case it can range from $40-$50 or high end can be around $150/hr.
Q:
Why would I pay for a kitchen designer?
A:
A designer gets paid for their expertise in recommendations about available products and materials such as countertops, cabinets and lights that fit a customer's budget. He is not only hired for his creativity but also his knowledge on the technical aspects of the renovation. Their design will make your kitchen beautiful, safe and in accordance with building codes.

We pride ourselves on our creative yet affordable projects, our continuous communication with clients and subs as well as the relationship and hand holding we provide to customers. We have been told many times that we are loved because we listen and we care. Many times we hear clients say they got more than what they expected with our designs.
