Hello, everyone! We're currently in a farmhouse craze! Everyone wants that look and rightfully so-- it's chic and trendy.
I've been getting a lot of requests lately asking if Stevens Kitchens sells and installs farmhouse sinks without remodeling the kitchen. To be honest, I had no clue. When I don't know something, I do my research and ask our friendly Owner/Designer extraordinaire, Steve Tedesco and here is what I learned.
Farmhouse sinks installed in a kitchen remodel are great. If you're only wanting to update your standard sink a farmhouse sink though, there is a bit more involved than you would think.. The counter tops are cut differently for farmhouse sinks. Regular undermount sinks extend further back than farmhouse sinks. This means, you can't just swap out your undermount stainless steel sink for a farmhouse sink.
The solution? Replacing the entire counter top so it can be fitted accordingly.
The sink base cabinet. In order to install a farmhouse sink, you have to get a specialty sink base cabinet, and If one new cabinet is installed, we encounter the issue of matching the new cabinetry to the existing ones. That is not an easy task.
When it's all said and done, if you choose to replace the sink only, you will probably be spending a lot of money for that farmhouse sink. My suggestion? Consider remodeling the entire kitchen. If that's not in your budget, add farmhouse elements so you can still achieve the look.
That's all for now!
